In today’s Airless Discounter article, we’ll be focusing on the differences between the HeavyCoat versions with and without the SSP module.

First of all, what does it mean? SSP stands for “Special Spray Power”.
It’s a mechanical system that increases the suction power of the Wagner HeavyCoat.

This module of characteristic parts is mounted at the bottom of the pump base on HeavyCoat models known as E SSP or G SSP, but above the part dipping into the material to be sprayed.

Here’s a demonstration photo:

Explanation of the system used on Wagner HeavyCoats

Here’s one of our YouTube videos in which we show a HC 950 with SSP function in action.

As you can see, the SSP module’s 2 parts (bottom rod and block with steel ball and spring) ensure constant suction, with no risk of clogging. This in turn allows the full suction force of the hydraulic system to be increased slightly.

Let’s take a look at the difference without this SSP module, with the standard version of HeavyCoat machines with a single lower pump.

This is the standard lower pump that you’ll find on all Wagner HeavyCoats not equipped with the SSP module, and which will offer classic suction of the product with a different force depending on the model of HeavyCoat machine selected.

Here are some demonstrative photos:

To buy the Wagner HeavyCoat in SSP or not?

From our point of view, and given the small difference in price between the SSP and standard versions of the same model, it generally makes much more sense to opt for a HeavyCoat SSP.

What’s more, since the SSP module reduces the risk of clogging, it’s a very good investment for the future, helping to avoid downtime on job sites and the consequent loss of money.

Finally, the SSP versions will always be those supplied with the best equipment, for example the spray gun, which will often be the AG14 with the standard versions and the more ergonomic AG19 with the SSP versions.
