Some time ago, we invested in a shredder that perforates old cardboard boxes, transforming them into packaging material. To transport our customers’ orders safely and undamaged to their destination, goods are usually packed in cardboard boxes. To prevent the goods from flying around in the box and being damaged in the process, we need filling material.
Shredded cardboard as filler material instead of paper
Until now, we’ve been using paper to fill the boxes. Instead of new paper, we now use shredded used cardboard. Every day, we receive goods packed in cardboard boxes or on cardboard pallets. Until now, we have had to pay for the disposal of these cartons and old cardboard boxes. What’s more, storing the leftover cardboard took up a lot of space.
By shredding used cardboard and cartons, we save twice as much money. On the one hand, we save on the purchase of paper, which will be used as filling material. In addition, we have been able to reduce our cardboard and paper waste considerably. Our disposal costs have also fallen, and we have a bit more space in our warehouse.
And last but not least, the environment benefits, with trees remaining in place instead of being turned into filler.
Using the boxes a second time
As in the past, we continue to use the same packaging material several times, as long as it is not damaged. It is therefore quite possible that you will receive your order in a box in which we have already received a delivery. We also re-use paper, cardboard or plastic filling material when sending goods to our customers, as long as the shipping material is clean and undamaged.
