What is an AirCoat hose and how does it work? 

An AirCoat hose is attached to an AirCoat paint sprayer between the paint sprayer and the spray gun. The AirCoat hose set consists of a paint hose and an air hose. The paint hose delivers the paint from the spray gun to the gun. The air hose delivers the compressed air from the compressor to the AirCoat gun. The hoses are available in different lengths and with different thread sizes from the manufacturer Wagner. There are also different hose diameters. The maximum working pressure of the Wagner AirCoat hoses is 270 bar (paint hose) and 8 bar for the air hose.

Length, thread & inner diameter – What to consider when choosing the right AirCoat hose?

There are three factors to consider when choosing the right AirCoat hose:

  • Length of the AirCoat hose
  • Thread of the AirCoat hose
  • Inner diameter of the AirCoat hose

The length of the AirCoat hose is important to be able to spray comfortably in the work area. If the hose is too short, the sprayer must be changed. This is annoying and interrupts the work unnecessarily. However, if the hose is excessively long, more paint or lacquer is needed to fill the hose. By default, Wagner delivers most AirCoat paint sprayers with a 7.5 meter long double hose (which is usually sufficient). But 10-meter AirCoat hoses from Wagner are also available. If required, two hoses can also be coupled to increase hose length and working radius. Simply couple two AirCoat hoses through connectors. Depending on the thread, two options are possible – connector 1/4″ or connector M16x1,5.

Thread of the AirCoat hose – The air hose is always fitted with a 1/4″ thread. The paint hose can be a 1/4″ thread or a M16x1,5 thread. But how do you find out which thread is needed? It is best to compare the threads of the air- and paint hose. If both threads are the same size, both threads are 1/4″. However, if the thread of the paint hose is larger than the thread of the air hose, it is an M16x1,5 thread on the paint hose. Alternatively, you can perform the comparison of the threads on the air- and paint connection of the gun.

Tip: If your hose does not fit, it remains possible to work with adapters to compensate for the threads. The following adapters are possible:

Inner diameter of the AirCoat hose – A Wagner AirCoat hose set consists of a paint hose and an air hose. The air hose for conveying the compressed air from the compressor to the gun has an inner diameter of 6 mm for all hose variants. There are two options for the paint hose: 3 mm and 4 mm inside diameter.
