This video blog is all about XXL rollers, i.e. oversized paint rollers that are twice as wide as 50 cm. These oversized rollers for painting large areas of walls, ceilings and floors have a few advantages and disadvantages that we’re going to take a closer look at. We’ll see which roller is suitable for which purpose, and what to look out for when using XXL oversized rollers.

XXL roller applications
These XXL paint rollers can be used both for applying paint by roller to airless sprayed surfaces and for conventional paint application using the roller alone. Oversized rollers offer the greatest advantage on large surfaces, but they can also be used in flats or detached houses. Thanks to the double width of the 50 cm rollers, many more surfaces can be sprayed in the same time than with a standard 25 cm wide paint roller.
Despite their extraordinary size, XXL rollers are easy to guide. It’s only around edges and corners that it may be necessary to prepare with smaller rollers.
Which XXL rollers are available?
Different XXL rollers are available depending on the application. Here’s an overview of the main types of XXL rolls in our range. Three qualities of roll are available for interior walls and ceilings.
XXL yello/white rollers for public buildings
The yellow/white roller is suitable for public buildings. This roller can be used on unstructured or lightly structured surfaces such as plastered or rendered ceilings and walls, or on unbleached wallpaper.
XXL green roller for high-qulity walls and ceilings
The green roller has a 12 mm pile and is suitable for surfaces with no structure, such as smooth wall coverings or high-quality plastered ceilings and wall surfaces. This roller produces a light dragging structure.
XXL grey/white roller in the premium segment
The grey/white roller is the premium variant for high-quality smooth or plastered ceilings and walls. This roller can be used to create virtually structure-free surfaces.
XXL blue/white roller for floor coverings
The blue/white roller is used for floor surfaces. This roller has a shorter nap height of 7 mm and can also be used for products containing solvents, such as epoxy resin coatings.
Airless pre-spray with wide angle nozzles
If rollers are used in combination with an airless device, so that one employee sprays the paint and the second then rolls, it can be useful to use nozzles with a wider jet. There are special wide-angle nozzles for this purpose, which produce a particularly wide jet (around 60cm). This makes it possible to adapt the surface flow rate so that you can spray and roll at the appropriate speed.
Accessories for XXL rollers
What else do you need to use the extra-wide XXL rollers? For these, you need a special 50 cm wide roller holder, to which the rollers are fixed.
This bracket can be used with any standard tapered telescopic pole.
Paint tray for XXL rollers
Because XXL rollers cannot be placed in a traditional paint bucket due to their excessive width, the manufacturer L’Outil Parfait offers a suitable paint tray that is wide enough for XXL rollers. Once the tray has been filled with paint, the roller can easily absorb just the right amount of material. The tray can be rolled up and is mobile on the worksite.
XXL paint tray cover
To ensure that you can use your paint tray for as long as possible, there are covers made from recycled plastic film. This way, the paint tray is protected, stays clean and can be used for a long time.
