In today’s article, you will discover a range of airless devices that we recommend for companies and individuals, with the following conditions of use.

These machines will be adapted for :

  1. SURFACES: small and medium-sized areas (furniture, flats, houses), usually up to 200 m².
  2. FREQUENCY: occasional/routine use (1 to 3 times a month)
  3. MATERIALS: indoor/outdoor dispersion paints + Latex + Silicate + Rustproofing + Emulsions + Epoxy paints + Silicone + Pliolite (maximum viscosity) or finer products (varnishes, lacquers, glazes, primers, finishing paints for example). Therefore, materials requiring nozzles between 523 and 527 at the most, depending on the machine model selected.

If your activity or your projects correspond to this, you should probably go for the models of machines indicated in this article.
However, BE CAREFUL, this article is only a first approach to the selection of your airless machine. Each user and project is different.
Therefore, in order to avoid any mistakes, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone (+49 30 22 01 54 36), email (info@airless-discounter.de) or messages (+49 1 52 29 53 52 13), so that we can validate your idea or redirect you to a more suitable device.

Let’s look at the devices of each brand that will often best meet these criteria.

Graco series

At Graco, the best compromise quality/price according to these needs, will be the following 2 machines, which are also the entry level of professional airless machines.

1. The Graco ST MAX II 495 PC Pro

This Graco airless machine, in its version on legs (chassis), will be the lightest and most compact of the models presented in this article. It will also be the second lowest priced machine in this article.

The ST MAX II 495 PC Pro will be recommended at least for the above-mentioned projects in interior and exterior painting, thanks to its endurance on the job site and its power to accept nozzles of up to 0.025″, i.e. 525 or 625 for example.

Its valves will be easy to maintain and its mechanical construction will be identical in substance to the models of the higher ranges, thanks to its flow management, the operation of its lower pump and the filtration up to the paint gun. Finally, this will be the last model to be released by Graco (since 2019).
The ST MAX II 495 PC Pro will accept 4 sizes of Graco filters of #30, #60, #100 and #200 mesh (make sure you always match the filter size between the machine and the gun).
Finally, this machine will have Graco’s ProConnect (PC) generation lower pump, which will make it easier to remove this part for cleaning or repair.

This model will also accept a 6 litre hopper if required with its 2 variants (Graco finishing kit – Shop).

  • Voltage: 230 V / 50 Hz
  • Motor power: 0,89 kW DC without brush
  • Maximum flow rate: 2.3 l/min
  • Max. working pressure: 227 bar
  • Max. nozzle size: 0.025″ (525)
  • Weight: 15 kg & 30 kg

This electric airless piston pump will be slightly more powerful but just as expensive as the ST MAX II 495 PC Pro.
It will still have the ability to accept 4 sizes of primary filter for better flow management.
The Graco ST MAX II 595 PC Pro is the ideal airless machine for the application of dispersion and latex paints, silicate paints, adhesives in flats, apartment buildings, stairwells or basements and for small facade paint coatings.

This Graco machine will be the last model in our professional range to accept a 6 litre hopper if required (Graco finishing kit – Shop).
A very serious investment to start airless spraying for jobs inside and outside.

  • Voltage: 230 V / 50 Hz
  • Motor power: 1,19 kW DC without brush
  • Maximum flow rate: 2.6 l/min
  • Max. working pressure: 227 bar
  • Max. nozzle size: 0.027″ (527)
  • Weight: 33 kg

Blog post on the Finish Kit

Wagner series

At Wagner, the best compromise will be between a membrane and a piston machine. These two electric machines can also be found in the brand’s professional entry-level range.

1. The Wagner SuperFinish 23 Plus

This electric membrane machine is the SuperFinish 23 Plus. Easy to use and cart mounted, it has a maximum flow rate of 2.6 l/min.
Easy to repair, with a lower than average cost of parts, this one will be the trump card for airless investors starting out.
It has no electronics, but is still very versatile when you need to work with smaller quantities, thanks to its shorter hopper and hose connections. Finally, the diaphragm system is known for its advantage in reducing the quantities needed to prime the machine.

The Wagner SF 23 Plus will therefore accept a 5l or 20l hopper on top and a very thin and short hose (DN3 – 7.5m), so that it can work as well as possible with small quantities and fine materials. The rigid suction hose can be easily and quickly interchanged with the hopper.

  • Voltage: 230 V / 50 Hz
  • Power: 1.3 kW
  • Maximum flow rate: 2.6 l/min
  • Max. working pressure: 250 bar
  • Maximum nozzle size: 0.023″ (523)
  • Weight: 27 kg

2. The Wagner ProSpray 3.25

The ProSpray PS 3.25 airless paint sprayer from Wagner is an electrically driven piston pump for applications up to 200 m². The airless sprayer has a capacity of 2.6 litres at a maximum pressure of 221 bar and is therefore particularly suitable for spraying varnishes, primers or dispersion paints indoors and outdoors, for small and medium-sized projects, for example in the field of home renovation.

It will accept 3 sizes of primary filter for better filtration and flow management (#30, #60 & #100).
This Wagner machine will also accept a 6 litre hopper if required, in its stand-alone version (chassis) only.

  • Voltage: 230 V / 50 Hz
  • Motor power: 1,1 kW
  • Maximum flow rate: 2.6 l/min
  • Maximum pressure: 221 bar
  • Max. nozzle size: 0.027″ (527)
  • Weight: 17,9 kg & 25,5 kg

For dispersion of wall paint mainly

If your present and future projects involve 90% wall painting, we recommend that you stick with an electric piston machine. It will very often have a more comfortable application and a little more endurance.

Due to its current purchase price, we will therefore have a preference for the Graco ST MAX II 495 PC Pro (chassis).

Eletric piston pumps will be more suitable for wall paintings due to :

  • Flexible or rigid suction hose (more practical for dipping into paint cans)
  • Electric piston operation (more durable over time)
  • Compact unit (better transport + weight saving)
  • 3 filtering systems: strainer + primary filter + gun filter (4 mesh sizes available)

The choice of versatility

For versatility and as mentioned in our previous blog post “Airless pumps guide #1“; we would recommend you to take an electric membrane machine. This category of airless models will have a better comfort when changing parts and accessories; moreover you will have several accessories available for small quantities (DN3 hose and hopper) and they will have as we already mentioned, the shortest priming path that it can be on a professional airless spray machine. Finally, the cost of parts for repairs is often lower with diaphragm machines, which also do not have electronics like piston models.

Therefore, a great asset for craftsmen, carpenters and self-employed people for example, who need to work more or less regularly with small pots of lacquer/varnish on doors, furniture, frames etc… But still with the possibility to paint a flat or a house.
